Some of the classes Mr. Martinsen teaches here at West Sioux High School are Physical Science, Biology, and Anatomy and Physiology. The things that he tries to focus on in each class are the key concepts of the class and hands-on learning. He’s found that bell-ringers, short assignments at the beginning of class, and review help. His favorite class to teach is Anatomy and Physiology because it is an upper-level elective course that students who are driven to work hard and do well take. He keeps class interesting by incorporating hands-on learning and labs. Something Mr. Martinsen does that is unique in his teaching is he takes students to Lakeside Lab that is an extra-curricular field research trip twice a year. His favorite memories in class are whenever the light comes on and the student finally gets what he’s teaching. He is constantly trying to add new and improved ideas to his classes. Mr. Martinsen does a couple extra-curricular activities outside school and Lakeside lab. He is the coach for middle school wrestling and the huddle leader for Fellowship of Christian Athletes (FCA).
