Ms. Pickner's Classes

by Hannah Falck

February 25, 2010

Ms. Pickner teaches Spanish, Psychology, and English at West Sioux. Her major focuses teaching Spanish is reading, writing and understanding Spanish on a basic level. To keep her students interested in the subjects she is teaching, she uses fun activities that go along with what they are learning. In her Spanish Class they go to order in a restaurant, in her Psychology Class they have labs in English. They also make soundtracks for Romeo & Juliet.

In Ms. Pickner’s Psychology Class they are looking at how biology and the brain relate to how people think and behave. They are not currently working on any large long-term projects in any of her classes, but Spanish II will be completing a scavenger hunt as they learn directions and English I will start Romeo & Juliet in a few weeks.

Ms. Pickner’s favorite subject to teach the students in her English Class is the Short Story Unit. She says this is mostly because a lot of the stories they read are creepy and bizarre and she enjoys reading those kinds of stories.
