Speech Students Make it to State

Congratulations to group speech participants Amanda Barents (senior), Nathan
Puhl (senior) and Kelsey Bak (sophomore) who qualified for State with a 1 rating at districts. They had the privilege of performing their ensemble acting piece entitled 'Feelings, Nothing More Than Feelings' in the state speech competition at the LeMars High School on Saturday, February 6. They were critiqued by three judges and received two 1's and one 2 with an overall rating of 1. Recently received news revealed that they were not selected for All-State. Although this marks the end of the road for this years group speech, the three speech students did an excellent job! A special thanks is deserved for Mrs. Melinda Bak for all her hard work in the speech program, and for her skill and endurance in coaching students. I would also encourage anyone thinking about joining to jump in next year because its an exciting experience that teaches you a lot. Please speak with Mrs. Bak for more details.
