9th Period Results

The A, B, C, Incomplete grading policy and the 9th Period initiatives are in the fourth year of implementation at West Sioux in grades 6-12. It is a pleasure to share the successful results. West Sioux has seen a reduction in low grades and an increase in test scores.
When comparing the grades below a C-, there was an 86.6% reduction in low grades at the high school during the first semester of the 2008-2009 school year when compared to the first semester of the 2005-2006 school year. When comparing the grades below a C- at the middle school, there was over a 97% reduction in low grades during the first semester of the 2008-2009 school year when compared to the first semester of the 2005-2006 school year.
When comparing the grades below a C-, there was over an 81% reduction in low grades at the high school during the second semester of the 2008-2009 school year when compared to the second semester of the 2005-2006 school year. When comparing the grades below a C- at the middle school, there was a 88.8% reduction in low grades during the second semester of the 2008-2009 school year when compared to the second semester of the 2005-2006 school year.
West Sioux has met Adequate Yearly
Progress (AYP), which means there is an annual increase in the
number of students that are scoring at or above the proficient
level on the Iowa Tests of Educational Development and Iowa Tests
of Basic Skills.
Last year’s senior class scored higher on the ACT than students
