Northwest Iowa Community College Announces Entre Prep Participants

Fourteen area high school sophomores, juniors and seniors were selected for the Entre Prep Institute, held August 6th-10th on the campus of Northwest Iowa Community College in Sheldon.  West Sioux had four students attending the Entre Prep program, Jessica McMullen, Kylee Van Dieren, Kayla Streit and Patrick Treacle.  The Entre Prep Institute is a program that targets students from their sophomore to senior year in high school, who have personal and academic characteristics, which make them likely future entrepreneurs.

Participants in the Entre Prep program were selected based on recommendations from West Sioux High School counselor, Mr. Hansen, and high school teachers, personal essays and interviews.  Following the summer Institute each Entre Prep student then contributed 100 hours to an internship with his/her mentor’s business.  Upon completion of the program each student receives college credit for the course and a $500 stipend.  If they attend Northwest Iowa Community College the following fall after their high school graduation they will receive a $500 scholarship for the fall and spring semester
